DistilBook turns text into a narrated explainer video: upload a .txt, Markdown or Word file, or paste a web link, and it writes a narration script, pauses so you can edit every line, then draws an original illustrated scene for each idea and animates it in time with the AI voice. You pick the length, from about 30 seconds upward, and the slides follow it; the first narrated slide plays about 6 minutes after you approve the script.
You start free: signing up gives you 30 credits with no credit card, a slide costs 10 credits, so that is a complete 3 slide narrated video you can watch end to end. DistilBook accepts PDF, Word, images, plain text, a web article link, or a written prompt, and you approve the AI narration script before anything renders. Paid plans start at $15 per month for 170 credits, roughly 17 slides, which removes the watermark and unlocks MP4 export at up to 1440p. Narration is available in 20 or more languages, and the text to video output can carry your own logo and brand colors. Whiteboard and motion videos can be made in 16:9 landscape or in 9:16 vertical for Shorts, Reels and TikTok. Is this the same as Sora, Veo or Runway text to video?
No. Those tools generate realistic footage or cinematic clips from a short prompt. DistilBook makes explainer videos: it reads your text, writes narration, and draws illustrated scenes and diagrams that explain it, in a whiteboard or motion-graphics style. If you need live-action or cinematic shots, use a generative footage tool. If you need something explained clearly, this is the fit.
What is the difference between text to video and script to video?
With text to video the AI writes the narration from your text, so notes and articles become spoken explanation. If you already have the exact words, paste them in the Narration tab of Motion Explainer, or tick Use my text as the narration in Guided Explainer, and DistilBook narrates them as written. Both pause for your review before anything is drawn.
How much text can I turn into a video?
You set the length with the Length control, and the number of slides follows it. A slide costs 10 credits. The $15 plan includes 170 credits a month, roughly 17 slides.
Does it use stock footage or AI avatars?
No. Every scene is original artwork drawn for your content. There are no stock clips, no presenters and no avatars.
Can I make vertical videos for Shorts, Reels and TikTok?
Yes. Choose 9:16 Portrait under Aspect ratio before generating. It works for both Guided Explainer (whiteboard) and Motion Explainer.
Can I add my logo?
Yes, on every paid plan, including the $15 one. Your logo and brand colours are applied to every scene.
Is text to video free?
