How do I use exact quotations and references?

Last updated

DistilBook pauses after writing the script so you can edit every line before anything is drawn or voiced. Paste each quotation, verse, definition or reference exactly as it should be read, and the narration reads your text as written, with subtitles that follow it. The artwork is drawn by AI, so long quotations inside a picture may not be letter-perfect; keep exact wording in the narration and subtitles, and use Visual instructions to ask for a short reference label, such as a chapter and verse, rather than a full paragraph on screen.

What do you need before you start?

  • A new video, at the script review step, before generation.

How do you do it, step by step?

  1. 1

    Wait for the script review

After you add your source, DistilBook writes the narration and stops for your review.

  2. 2

    Paste quotations exactly

Replace any paraphrase with the exact text, in the translation or edition you use.

  3. 3

    Add references to the line

Put the reference in the narration, for example the book, chapter and verse, or the author and year.

  4. 4

    Keep screen text short

Under Advanced settings, Visual instructions, ask for short labels instead of long quotes in the artwork.

What are the limits?

The honest list, so you know before you start rather than after.

  • Text drawn inside the artwork can contain small errors; the narration and subtitles carry the exact wording.
  • Narration locks once generation starts, so check every quotation at the review step.

Common questions

Will the AI change my quotation?

No. Once you edit a line at the review step, the narration reads it exactly as you wrote it.

Can I show a long passage on screen?

Keep it short. Put the full passage in the narration and subtitles, and show a short reference in the artwork.
