URL to Video AI

one link in, one explainer out

Paste a link to a public article, docs page or blog post. DistilBook reads the page, writes the narration and draws a scene for every idea.

Your video plan0% ready
  • •Public pages only. Log-in walls and PDFs behind links will not load.
  • •Articles, docs pages and product pages work best.
  • •One page per video keeps the story tight.

Trusted by teams, schools, and organizations around the world

DistilBook turns a URL into a video by reading the main text of the page, leaving out menus, ads and footers, and turning it into a narrated explainer with an original illustrated scene for each idea. It stops after writing the script so you can edit every line, and a short whiteboard video is ready in about 5 minutes after you approve. It works on public article pages; it is not a tool for downloading a video from a link.

You start free: signing up gives you 10 credits with no credit card, a slide costs 10 credits, so the first slide of your video generates free and you can watch it in full; the rest unlocks on a paid plan. DistilBook accepts PDF, Word, images, plain text, a web article link, or a written prompt, and you approve the AI narration script before anything renders. Paid plans start at $20 per month for 227 credits, roughly 22 slides, which removes the watermark and unlocks MP4 export at up to 1440p. Narration is available in 20 languages, and the url to video output can carry your own logo and brand colors. Whiteboard and motion videos can be made in 16:9 landscape or in 9:16 vertical for Shorts, Reels and TikTok. Since April 2026, more than 1,400 people have made over 2,800 videos with DistilBook, most of them from PDFs.

Which kind of URL to video tool is this?

People mean three different things by URL to video. Some want to download or convert a video that already sits at a link; that is a downloader, and DistilBook does not do it. Some want short product ads made from a shop listing; those are e-commerce ad tools. The third meaning is turning the words on a page into a narrated video that explains them. DistilBook is that third kind: the page is the source, and the output is an illustrated explainer.

Is it the right tool for you?

Best for

  • Articles, blog posts, documentation and help-center pages you want explained as a narrated video
  • Writers and course creators turning a published page into a YouTube video or a 9:16 short
  • Teachers turning a reference article into a short lesson for a class
  • Anyone who wants to read and fix the script before a video is generated

Not for

  • Downloading or converting a video from a YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or X link: social and video links are rejected
  • Pages behind a login or paywall, or pages that only render with JavaScript: save them as a PDF and upload that instead
  • Batch product ads from Amazon or Shopify listings
  • Several pages in one video: one link makes one video, so combine pages into a document first

How does it work?

Paste the link
1

Paste the link

Paste the URL of a public page. DistilBook fetches it, keeps the article text and drops navigation, ads and comment threads. A link straight to a PDF file is refused, so upload the PDF itself instead.

Say who it is for and how long
2

Say who it is for and how long

Pick the audience and set the length. The same docs page can become a 60 second overview for customers or a longer walkthrough for new staff, and the script is written for that viewer, not copied from the page.

Edit the script before anything is drawn

Edit the script before anything is drawn

Web writing does not read well aloud: headings, link text and asides need trimming. The narration pauses for review, so fix names, numbers and wording here. Nothing is drawn or voiced until you approve.

Generate, then share or download

Generate, then share or download

Each scene is illustrated for your content and animated in time with the AI voice, in a whiteboard or motion-graphics style. Share a link, or download an MP4 at up to 1440p on a paid plan.

What kinds of links make good videos?

The page's main text is the whole script source, so the structure of the page decides the structure of the video. Three common cases, and what to do with each:

A blog post or news article

Usually the easiest case: one argument, clear headings, a few hundred to a few thousand words.

  1. Paste the post URL and pick an audience close to your readers.
  2. In the script, cut the intro hook written for scrolling readers and any calls to action like subscribe or read more.
  3. Pick 9:16 if the video is for Shorts or Reels, 16:9 for YouTube or an embed back on the post.

A documentation or help-center page

Docs pages are dense and full of UI names, which is exactly where a script review pays off.

  1. Link one task per video, for example the page for one setup step, not the docs home page.
  2. Check every button name, setting and number in the script against your product before approving.
  3. Use a clean motion style such as isometric or flat vector, and add your logo on a paid plan.

A reference or Wikipedia-style article

Long reference pages cover more than one video should. Narrow the scope instead of letting it run long.

  1. Set a short length so the script keeps to the core idea rather than every section.
  2. Use the audience setting to pitch it, for example to a 14 year old student or to adult beginners.
  3. Only publish videos made from pages you own or have permission to use.

Who is this for?

Writers and bloggers

Every post you publish can also live on YouTube or as a vertical short, without filming, recording your voice or learning an editor.

Product and docs teams

Turn a help-center article into the explainer customers watch instead of reading, and regenerate it when the page changes.

Teachers and course creators

Give students a narrated version of a reading, pitched at their level, with each concept drawn as it is explained.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a URL link to a video for free?

Sign up with no credit card and you get 10 credits. A slide costs 10 credits, so paste the link and the first slide of your video generates free and plays in full; the rest of the video unlocks on a paid plan from $20 a month, which also removes the watermark and allows MP4 download.

Can I paste a YouTube link and get a video?

No. DistilBook makes a new explainer video from the text on a page. YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X links are rejected, and it does not download, convert or summarize existing videos.

Why did my link fail?

The page is probably behind a login or paywall, or it only shows its text after JavaScript runs. Open the page in your browser, save or print it as a PDF, and upload the PDF; scanned and printed PDFs both work.

Will the video just show the text from the page?

No. The page text is rewritten as spoken narration and each idea gets an original illustration, drawn for that content and animated in time with the voice. It is an explainer, not a slideshow of the page's paragraphs.

Can I turn several pages into one video?

Not from links. One URL makes one video. To cover several pages, put them into one document, such as a PDF or Word file, and upload that instead.

Can the video be in another language than the page?

Yes. Narration is available in 20 languages, and the script is written in the language you choose, so an English article can become a Spanish or Hindi explainer. Check the script before approving, as you would for any translation.

How long does it take?

A short whiteboard video of 1 to 3 slides finishes in about 5 minutes after you approve the script, and a 10 slide video in about 15 to 25 minutes. Each whiteboard slide gives about 2 minutes of finished video and each motion slide about 25 seconds.
