Notion and internal wiki pages to video with DistilBook
Last updated
To turn a Notion page or wiki article into a narrated video with DistilBook, either paste the page URL if it is publicly shared, or export the page to PDF and upload it. DistilBook reads the headings and body text, writes a spoken script, generates animated scenes, and narrates them. This is the fastest way to convert onboarding docs, SOPs, and internal handbooks into training videos without rewriting them. A typical wiki article becomes a 4 to 6 slide video in under 20 minutes. Signup grants 30 credits with no credit card, and a slide costs 10 credits.
What do you need before you start?
- A Notion page, Confluence article, or wiki page you can either share publicly or export as PDF.
- A DistilBook account. Signup grants 30 credits.
How do you do it, step by step?
- 1
Decide: link or export
If the page is publicly shared, paste the URL directly. If it lives behind your workspace login, export it to PDF instead, because DistilBook cannot sign in to your wiki.
- 2
Export if needed
In Notion open the page menu and choose Export, then PDF. In Confluence use the page menu and Export to PDF. Keep the export to one article per video.
- 3
Upload or paste
Open distilbook.com, choose Create, then either drop the PDF in or paste the article URL.
- 4
Set the audience
Pick what the video is for, such as onboarding or training. The same SOP produces a different script for a new hire than for an auditor.
- 5
Review the narration
Internal docs are full of shorthand and internal jargon. This is the step where you fix names, expand acronyms, and cut anything that only makes sense in writing.
- 6
Render and share
About 30 seconds per slide. Share the web link internally, or download the MP4 on a paid plan for your LMS.
What are the limits?
The honest list, so you know before you start rather than after.
- DistilBook cannot log into your workspace. Private pages must be exported to PDF.
- Nested sub-pages are not followed. Export or convert one article at a time.
- Databases, boards, and embedded tools in Notion do not export usefully. Convert the written article portion.
- Internal acronyms are narrated as written. Expand them in the script review step or the narration will read them literally.
Common questions
Can DistilBook connect to my Notion workspace?
No. There is no workspace integration, so a private page has to be exported to PDF. A publicly shared page URL can be pasted directly.
Will it follow linked sub-pages?
No. It converts the page you give it. For a handbook with many sections, convert the sections you need as separate videos.
Is this a good way to make onboarding videos?
Yes, it is one of the most common uses. The onboarding doc already exists and already carries the correct process, so converting it beats writing a script from scratch.
What about our internal jargon?
The narration reads what is written, so acronyms are spoken literally. Expand them at the script review step, which happens before anything renders.
Can we keep it private?
Videos are private to your account by default, and sharing is something you turn on per video.
