The Alternative to StudyFetch
StudyFetch is built for studying. This is built for video other people watch.

StudyFetch turns PDFs, slides and notes into explainer videos as part of a wider study platform with flashcards, quizzes and a tutor. If you are a student and you want all of that in one place, it is a coherent product and the video is one feature among many. DistilBook does one thing instead: it turns a document into a narrated animated video, with a review step in the middle and your branding on the output. The question worth asking is who watches the video. If the answer is you, a study platform fits better. If the answer is a class, a customer or a team, the things DistilBook adds start to matter.
Why do people look for a StudyFetch alternative?
You are not a student
Study platforms are shaped around a learner revising their own material. That shape stops helping once the audience is somebody else.
You want one tool, not a suite
Flashcards and quizzes are useful to a student and are overhead if all you need is the video.
The output needs to look like yours
Branded output is rarely a priority for study tools and is usually the whole point for teams.
What does DistilBook do differently?
Script review before anything renders
The narration is written first and shown to you, mapped slide by slide. Correct it there, or paste your own exact wording. Nothing is generated until you approve it.
Made for an audience, not a revision session
Original artwork per slide, your logo and colours throughout, MP4 export at up to 1440p on a paid plan.
Two visual approaches
A hand-drawn whiteboard style at about 2 minutes of finished video per slide, or 14 motion-graphics styles at about 30 seconds per slide.
No study features at all
Stated plainly because it decides the choice: there are no flashcards, no quizzes, no tutor, no progress tracking. If you want those, StudyFetch is the better product and this is not a close call.
Other StudyFetch alternatives worth knowing
DistilBook is not the only option, and the right tool depends on your workflow. Also consider:
- StudyFetch:The better choice if you want studying tools around the video, not just the video..
- NoteGPT:Free and needs no signup, good for a quick personal conversion of a long PDF..
- Colossyan:If the video has to be a tracked course inside an LMS..
- Powtoon:If you want to build the animation yourself from templates..
Frequently asked questions
Does DistilBook make flashcards or quizzes?
No. It makes narrated animated video and nothing else. There is no quizzing, no flashcards, no progress tracking and no viewer analytics. If you want the study scaffolding around the material, StudyFetch is built for that and this is not.
Can I use it as a teacher rather than a student?
That is the case it fits best. Upload the chapter, lesson plan or notes, review the script it writes, and it produces a narrated lesson with your branding. Narration is available in 20 or more languages. Export the MP4 and host it wherever your class already watches things.
How much does it cost compared to a study platform?
DistilBook charges per slide rather than per seat: 10 credits a slide, 30 credits free at signup with no card. Paid plans are $15 per month for 170 credits, $35 for 450 and $75 for 1000. Because you are billed for what you generate, occasional use costs very little, which is a different shape from a study subscription you pay monthly whether you open it or not.
What are the limits I should know before signing up?
PDFs are capped at 10 pages on the free and $15 plans, 30 on the $35 plan, with the file rejected rather than trimmed above that. Output is 16:9 only, so no vertical video. There is no voice cloning and no avatar presenter. Free output carries a watermark and cannot be exported as MP4.
